That’s it for me! What are your favorites this week? Happy Friday!
Yesterday was Parker’s first day of Pre-School! He did so well and I am so proud of him. We’ve been dealing with some separation anxiety this summer, so I wasn’t sure how he was going to feel about leaving me for the day and I wasn’t sure how yesterday morning was going to go down either! He did soooooo good though. He was excited and kept talking about “teachers” and “school” the few days prior and on the way to school yesterday he was ready for fun! He marched right in when we got there like he owned the place and sat down and started playing. No crying. Success!! When I picked him up, the teacher said he did GREAT! Way to go my favorite little guy in the whole world!
Here are a few things about my P Man right now:
Age: 2 and a Half
His favorite movies: Turbo, Planes aka Dusty, and Cars (McQueen and Mater!)
His favorite shows: Thomas the Train, Mickey Mouse, and Paw Patrol
His favorite food: chicken… he’s going to turn into a chicken! He loves apple sauce and “chocky” milk too, oh and spaghetti!
Sayings: He walks around saying “that’s right” after everything I say… (apparently I say that to him a lot! haha)
“Wuv You” , “Not Nice” , “Ima Getchu”
Obsessions: Fire Trucks, Cars, Trains, Tracks
Favorite Toy: McQueen Cars
He’s really getting into the Super Hero thing too lately. He loves Batman, Superman aka “Cimmaman”, and Spider Man
I loved watching him grown and learn last year and I can’t wait to see what this year brings!
You gals will find me focusing more on fashion here on the blog. When I started blogging, I was just a new Mommy and it TOTALLY showed. No kidding. I was still wearing boring, unfashionable clothing and I needed help! Haha But for real. I started reading some fashion blogs and started revamping my wardrobe right after my divorce last year. I lost the rest of my baby weight and I needed to feel good about myself again. It sounds crazy, but looking polished and fashionable will do WONDERS for your self esteem after it’s been torn down. I love walking out the door feeling good about the way I look instead of thinking, I have a baby on my hip, everyone knows I’m a mom, so who cares. I just want to pass along what I’ve learned and really it just gives me an excuse to keep up on the current looks and PIN things on Pinterest for a reason!
I don’t know about you gals, but I am SO ready for cooler weather and fall clothes!!! I feel like I dress ok in the hot months, but some days are so hot that all I really want to do is be comfortable. Fall and Winter is when I really feel like I have the most style! So, when Nordstrom had their anniversary sale, I started gathering some new fall staples. Here is what I have in my closet right now to get me started. I can’t wait to start wearing them and mixing and matching!
This jacket you guys… I’ve had a couple of jean jackets over the years and they’ve all been too stiff and uncomfortable, so it’s never been something I wear. I’m also tall, so the arms would be too short and the bend at the elbows was tight and annoying… it’d be off by mid day and there goes that look! So,this one is super comfy and “soft” for a jean jacket. I love pairing it with a good maxi dress for church or to pull an outfit together for work with capris or jeans.
One of my favorite bloggers, has dubbed this the “Must Have Shirt” for the season! I have to agree! It may look like a plain ‘ol shirt… BUT it is perfect and I want one in every color!!! Go check her blog out… Pinterest Told Me To
Leopard print is my new favorite neutral for accessories… shoes, belts, jewelry, etc. I’m all about it. It goes with everything! Seriously. Everything and every color. Get you some leopard print accessories. Scarves, flats, yeah, do it. Anyway, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these heels! Leopard it up ladies!
Leggings. I was SO not a legging kind of girl until last year. I never thought they would look good on me. The truth is that I just never knew how to wear them. Tunic? Tuni- who?! I didn’t even know what a “tunic” was. No lie. Now I love wearing leggings and will be living in them this fall and winter. It’s like going to work in your pajamas! Who wouldn’t love that? I’ll do a post later on how to wear them and style them and show how I pair them with certain things. Last year, I just bought whatever without really knowing better, so I haven’t actually tried these yet. I’ve read that these are the way to go though. Stay tuned… I’ll let you know.
There are a ton of things on my fall wish list too! Come on cooler weather!!
Stay tuned for more posts on life with a little style added to it!
As summer comes to an end this week, I wanted to throw some pictures of what we’ve been up to on the blog. We had a great summer! It’s been hot and I’m definitely ready for Fall and cooler weather! Parker starts pre-school again next week, and while I’m ready for a more regular routine again, it was a fun summer!
We swam… a lot!
We ate ice cream!
We went to the beach!
We swam at night… he had a blast!
We took our first trip to Chuck E Cheese!
Meet the Teacher is this Friday morning for us and back to school is next week! That means new friends for P Man and a busier work schedule for this Mama. I know great things lie ahead for both of us!
Don’t forget to grab a printable back to school kit for your kiddos of any age here in my Etsy shop! It will keep you organized throughout the entire school year!
If you are a teacher, there is also a BRAND NEW Teacher’s Planner for you too!
Happy Back to School!
I disappeared for a little while, but have NOT fallen off the face of the earth! Promise!
The last time you saw me and my little guy in September, we looked like this…
Here we are now… Healthier, lighter, and happier than EVER! :)
A recap of life since last September… I went through a very emotional, painful, humiliating, and crazy time in my life starting last September(really it was WAY before that) and just didn’t know how to blog through it when part of my blog was centered around it… my family… as in my husband, my baby boy, and I. It is now ex husband. I’m not here to air dirty laundry, but to tell my story. I’m letting my audience know that you will no longer be seeing pictures of Parker’s father and be seeing pictures and probably posts of me with someone new in my life. I’m here to be real and maybe my story will help someone else.
As a Christian woman, this was probably the hardest thing I have EVER had to wrap my head around. I took vows. I took them seriously before God and my family. We do not get divorced, it’s just not what you do. My parents have been married for 30+ years and both sets of grandparents married for 50+ years. This. is. not. what. our. family. does. Marriage isn’t just a dating relationship that you give up on and throw the towel in. It’s not supposed to be, anyway. But, how do you stay married to someone who doesn’t want to be married, didn’t take vows seriously, and who’s heart isn’t in it. The bottom line is that I was not being treated the way a GODLY man treats his wife, which led me to not be the best wife I could emotionally be either. My spirit was emotionally being torn down… THIS is just not how God designed marriage and NOT what he wants for his children.
We went to Christian counseling at our church and it didn’t help. So, when it came down to decision time, I had a peace in my heart, like God was saying it’s ok, this is not what I want for you or for your son, better things lie ahead. I knew I would be a better mother and my son would have a better upbringing without the kind of negativity that surrounded us. In the bible, the one and only reason it is ok to end a marriage is infidelity… ANY KIND. I recently got reassurance from the pulpit from our preacher that really put my heart at peace. Maybe this will help some woman reading this somewhere out there… He said that if you aren’t being treated the way a Godly man is supposed to treat his wife, bring him to the church (i.e. counseling, prayer, accountability, etc.) and if he still doesn’t respond to that, then get out because he is behaving like a non believer and should be handled accordingly.
This is not a sad, mopey story… I am currently at the best place in my life and am truly VERY happy now! I got a huge blessing from that marriage… my Parker Man and I wouldn’t change anything! He was most definitely not a mistake! He’s been my rock and my duty is to be the best mother I can and give him the best Christian upbringing possible.
So, from now on, you will see all kinds of new here on my little blog. (I have a lot of work to do here to get it back up and going!!) My new blessed life as a single mother, my new dating life with a wonderful man who is amazing to my son and I as well as his own son, projects, cooking, organizing, oh and maybe some fashion and style posts- I’ve been revamping my wardrobe little by little since losing weight and getting out of frumpy new mommy mode haha, and I still have my printable shop on ETSY, Organized Whimsy Printables that I will start focusing more on again!
I won’t be killing myself over posts to make them perfect and editing tons of pictures like I did in the past… it made blogging VERY time consuming. I’d rather be on here posting about life more! You will probably see lots of iphone pictures! :)
I will see you all again soon!

We’ve all seen the organization binders ALL over Pinterest… some people call them family binders, some call them home organization binders, home management binders, whatever you want to call it, they are a very popular source of organization for women and especially moms, like me, on the go. Contrary to popular belief, I am NOT the most organized person out there. I know what you’re thinking…”but it’s what you do?!” I get that a lot! My answer: “But that’s how I do what I do!” If it weren’t for this handy little binder full of printables, I would be a HOT MESS! (I still am on occasion, ahem, an unorganized mess is how my business evolved.) This system helps get me feeling organized and like I can conquer the world day by day. I’ve made it my mission to help women get organized too!
Here are the supplies I gathered to get started:
- Binder (I love this one from Staples. It’s in the Martha Stewart collection)
- monthly divider tabs
- clear pocket dividers
- post it notes
- washi tape
- paper clips
- 3 ring hole punch
- clear accessory bag to hold markers, pens, stickers, post its, etc.
In the very front of my home management binder, I have my clear pouch where I keep all of my pens, post its, stickers, markers, etc.
I grabbed these pretty, bright monthly dividers from Staples. They are the Avery monthly dividers. They match the bright color scheme perfectly! (sidenote: I REALLY like for my binder and pages to be bright, girly, and pretty!) I use seasonal stickers, to jazz up my calendars too!
I put my monthly/weekly calendars up in the very front so I can see what my month looks like at first glance. My calendar is color coded by family member. Each person get their own color, and the family as a whole has it’s own color for things that we all do together. (The Yearly Planner)
Behind my calendar, are all of my to do lists. I have daily, weekly, and monthly lists to help me stay on track. Each month I print new ones out. (The Calendars and To Do Lists Kit)
(2 Freebies!) The daily tasks freebie helps me keep my daily to do’s in order and I LOVE checking off boxes when they are done… makes me feel so accomplished! The other freebie I love because I can keep up with who I need to email, call, the schedule for the day, errands I need to run, and what we’re having for dinner. I use this one every. single. day.
Behind my calendar and lists, I have things organized by topic on the dividers. For me personally, I have sections for: Organized Whimsy/Etsy, Blog, Meal Planning, Budget, Cleaning, Family Information, and P School.
Included in the very back of every section, I have a clear pocket divider that I put extra papers, schedules, receipts, school papers, etcetera in.
In the Etsy section, I keep up with my shops income, budget, to do’s, ideas, etc.
In my blog section, I have the Business Blogger Kit, which includes things like checklists, idea sheets, blog post daily/weekly/monthly/yearly/series planners, income info., review and giveaway sheet, and a TON more.
In the Meal Planning section, I have menu planners, grocery lists, a recipe tracker, recipes that I’ve printed out in the clear pocket, and inventories of my fridge, pantry, and freezer. (The Meal Planner’s Kit)
(Freebie!) The Post it note weekly meal plan. I use this every week and I love that I can use it over and over or if my week doesn’t go according to plan, I can just switch the post its around!
In the Budget section, I have a monthly budget, expense sheets, checking log, quarterly budgets, payment tracker and checklist, etc. (The Financial Kit)
(Freebie!) Payment Checklist. This is one of my all time favorites and I use it every month.
In the Cleaning section, I keep all of my weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly cleaning checklists. I also have a deep cleaning schedule ad home maintenance sheets. (The Cleaner’s Kit)
In the Family Info section, I keep up with our medical records, contact information for friends, family, and doctors, a babysitter sheet (for date nights!), a password keeper ( the Good Lord knows I have WAY too many to keep up with), Insurance accounts, financial account info, a sheet for keeping up with birthdays and anniversaries, an emergency contact list. I also keep Parkers shot records here, along with birth certificates and SS cards. You can find all of these and more in what I call the “The Mom’s Planner Kit!”
(Freebie!) Friends and Family Contact Information. If you put this in your binder, you will never have to go “hunt” down anyone’s information when you need to mail a card, email, or call someone ever again!
Last, but not least, is the P School section. Here is where I keep “The Back to School Kit for Boys,” which has things like teacher and school contacts, schedules for the school days and extra curricular activities, a lunch box planner, lunchbox notes, classmate and parent contact information, etc.
If you’re a glorified “Pin Junkie” like me, here is a great image to help you remember how to organized your home binder!

That’s it, it’s really pretty easy to get started. I hope you ladies found some inspiration and gathered some tips on how to organize your home management binders! See you next month with some new Free Printables!
I am starting to think about how I will design my 2014 planner for myself and the Etsy Shop! While I love my home binder that I will share with you guys soon, it’s not exactly small enough to hall around or throw in a bag. I mean, really, I don’t need to haul around cleaning checklists, etc. in my purse! I decided a couple of years ago that I didn’t need a planner, because everything I needed I could do on my iphone. As much as I love my phone and all of the things I can do on it, there are just some things that still need to be on paper the old school way for me. (and it’s prettier ;) ) I know my Mom is so laughing at me right now… I joked around with her for years about not going paperless!
I’ve been doing a little bit of research on which system would be best for me. I keep running across these systems.
1. Filofax- I know this one is pretty popular and I have a lot of customers on Etsy asking if my printables are compatible with these planners. (The answer is yes! as long as you know how to change your printer settings to print the correct size or go have them printed for you.)
I think I will end up going with the Martha Stewart system. That’s the binder system I use and I love way my printables look with the colors, etc. I also like that this system has a large version and a small version. I’ll be using the larger system because I don’t want to have to squint to see things and I want to have plenty of space to write. I also carry larger purses, so I don’t think I’ll have a problem toting it around with me.
I’ll also need to purchase a hole punch since I will be using all of my own printables from my Etsy Shop in my planner. Here are a couple that I’ve found so far.
This one seems to get great reviews!
Here’s another hole punch that would work well too.
I know it’s early to be thinking about 2014 already, but I know once the holidays hit, it’s going to be nuts and I’ll most likely forget about it. So, there’s my research for now… I’ll let you guys take a peek at it once I get it all put together! :)
August was a whirlwind of a month! It went by so fast, and now we’re already into September. It’s time to start putting the pumpkins out and lighting those spicy candles! That’s what I did in my house this week. I think I’m wishing the cooler weather this way… This girl right here is OVER this brutal Texas summer heat. PERIOD. On to my favorite posts from August.
I’m really looking forward to Fall! How about you???
